Choosing Health: How industry is meeting the Government's challenge of changing the balance and nature of food and soft drink advertising
The All Party Parliamentary Group on Advertising APPGA held a meeting on the 23 May 2006 in the Houses of Parliament to discuss the current issues facing the food and soft drink advertising and broadcasting industries.
In its Choosing Health White Paper the Government challenged industry to change the balance and nature of food advertising to children and also look at ways of promoting healthy lifestyle messages. This meeting offered an opportunity for Parliamentarians to learn more about industry’s commitments to change the way in which it advertises to children from manufacturer and broadcaster perspectives.
Contributions were heard from Jeremy Preston - Director, Food Advertising Unit; Tony Palmer - Managing Director, Kellogg’s UK & Ireland; and Christy Swords - Director of Regulatory Affairs, ITV plc / Managing Director, ITV London.
